T&D Construction Manager

A key client of mine is currently searching for a Construction Manager to effectively manage the construction of various transmission lines and substation projects. The Construction manager will be responsible for coordination of the construction projects which includes; coordinating the schedule, safety and cost. Ensuring the projects are delivered on time, in budget and meting the clients standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring construction activities to maintain system reliability.
  • Supervises and mentors all superintendents; monitors their activities and provides leadership.
  • Conduct meetings to report on status of assigned construction projects and maintenance work.
  • Document contract crew activities, prepare and present verbal and written update reports whilst verifying the accuracy of contractor invoicing.
  • Coordinate with internal and external resources for pre-bid and pre-construction meetings as required. 
  • Converse with customers, engineering, design, and other interested groups to fully understand the program needs.
  • Tracking project changes for scope and cost; creating RFI’s
  • Working with management to maintain contractor relationships for future projects.

Key requirements

  • 5 + years of experience in the transmission and distribution industry .
  • Ability to read contract documents and ensure projects are meeting contractual requirements.
  • Flexibility to work remotely on project sites that require travel and extended hours.
  • Great personal skills and ability to work with and guide others on project related activities.
  • Project planning and scheduling skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management is ideal but not essential.
